🌅Sunset at Sounio🌟

As we enter into our last night out together as a group, I am filled with so much gratitude for the group, the Greek Bible College, our wonderful instructors and the incapsulating Greek culture. Where each person is cared for as their own family and no one is left astray. I am humbled by the kindness of the Greek people. I admire the authenticity and realness that they embody and their continual pursuit to go above and beyond for each one of us. It gives new meaning to me of humanity and how I believe God designed us all to be.

One thing that sets Greece apart is found in the sacredness of the water that surrounds its country. The Sea has deep meaning for the Greeks, it is no wonder that the Temple of Poseidon, named after the God of the Sea is standing between the two merging waters of the Aegean and Ionian Seas.

After experiencing the islands and now this, I think I am beginning to get a taste of the peace that comes from the Sea. Especially sitting quietly on a rock while watching the sun set, I am reminded of what is on the other side of this body of water. The place where Jesus was born, baptized and risen from the dead. I thought of how he saw the same sunsets and felt the same temperature on his skin. Breathed in the same air to his lungs. Suddenly, Jesus feels more human than ever before!

To say that I’ve been mesmerized by this moment is an understatement. I believe that this sacred water, among others is what makes Greece like no other place. A place of forever cleansing and of natural beauty that extends now past 2500 years. Where you can’t help but feel refreshed and completely cleansed of whatever it is that you came with. It is truly holy ground! Where heaven touches down on earth.

As our last night out, I heard many conversations throughout the day around how much we will miss each other. Our sacred space at the Bible College, tucked in the middle of Pikermi, Greece and the staff who have become family. A place where true natural beauty and hospitality exists and even the bee’s are nice 🐝

Some of us will grieve, some will be more excited to get home to see their loved ones but we will all remember this time. As a time in our lives when our lives stopped for a bit and we were able to sit still long enough to learn and understand, how to love each other and love people of other culture's well ❤️
