Day 1: Welcome to Greece!
Our travel to Greece started yesterday morning (May 31st) at about 9 am. Now for me this was both exciting and nerve racking because this was actually my first ever flight. It’s a different experience to see the world from so high up. The good thing about the flight was the fact that we all got placed together on both plane rides. This means that we got to talk all the way to Montreal, Canada. This is where we had a layover and got to try and relax and recharge before boarding the long flight to Athens, Greece. The picture below is showing our arrival at the Montreal airport.
After this we took a little break at the airport while we waited to board the next plane. The plane ride to Athens International Airport takes about 9 and a half hours. This is a long flight and got a little boring after a while. A lot of us got little to no sleep whatsoever. We landed in Greece at about 10 am for Greece time which is at least a 7 hour difference from Montreal, Canada and the eastern side of the United States.
This picture above is one of the shots taken on final approach to Greece.
This is our landing in Greece. After landing and getting off the plane we had to go through a passport check and then we were off to our destination where we will be staying. It took about an hour or so to get through the passport check and get to our bus that would take us to the college we are staying at. The ride to the college was only about 15 minutes. After arriving, we got assigned rooms and got to put all our stuff away. We then had a little bit of free time before lunch and then a scavenger hunt. The idea of the scavenger hunt was to get us familiar with the area and also just to have some fun. After this was finished we got another little break to relax before dinner. We are all trying our best to stay awake to get our bodies adjusted to the time difference…. But this has been hard on almost all of us. Lucky we are finally able to get some rest after dinner.
Before finishing this post I just wanted to welcome you all to this journey through Greece with our SEU cohorts. Keep up with these posts to see the amazing adventures we have!
